I was born and raised in Columbus, Nebraska. I graduated from Scotus Central Catholic in 1974. I graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1980 with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, and went on to study law at the University of Nebraska College of Law, graduating in 1983. I started my career in criminal law as a Deputy Platte County Attorney in 1984. I was elected Platte County Attorney and served in that office from 1987 to 1991, when I resigned to open my private practice. I exclusively practice in criminal law. I am member of the Nebraska State Bar Association, the Nebraska Criminal Defense Attorneys Association, and a past president of the Platte County Bar Association.
